Improving literacy and numeracy skills in the workplace
Research suggests that 800,000 adults in Scotland have low levels of literacy and numeracy and that 500,000 of those people are in work.
More and more employers are taking the initiative to work with learning providers so that employees who want to improve their skills can have the opportunity to do so.
There are a number of case studies available for you to download. Each case study highlights the benefits to employers and employees, which can include:
- improved efficiency and productivity
- improved quality through reduced errors
- better health and safety record
- improved staff loyalty
- a reduction in staff turnover
- greater employee willingness and ability to learn, and
- a positive attitude towards changes in the workplace
