Resources for your business

We decided to offer a laptop to the winner of our ‘Skill Ball Challenge’ game as we felt that it may be a useful resource for your business in supporting computer based learning for your staff or colleagues.

learndirect scotland for business have helped to make online learning available to over 2,000 businesses in Scotland and we have shown some feedback below from a wide cross section of companies, with a view to introducing the benefits of this approach.

Karen Allan of Cumbernauld Theatre was keen to point out the benefits that online learning offers:  “The flexibility of online learning is ideal for our staff, as many don’t work normal office hours. It’s also ideal for our part-time staff who have other jobs. Our old training scheme meant that many weren’t able to take advantage of any training as it would be held during the day in conjunction with the local college”

Staff at Anderson French Hairdressing in Fife completed a number of Microsoft approved courses, as well as focussing on courses that would be of direct benefit to its core business. This included customer related courses such as presentation skills and customer care. Sue Grundy, administrative assistant, said: “The IT courses were particularly useful, as my colleagues and I had next to no computer experience. The other courses we completed were customer focused and they are already beginning to have a positive impact upon our business”

Jenny Ogden, manager of the Deeside activity park added: “We are already experiencing the benefits of online learning. My director and I have completed courses on Microsoft Access and Powerpoint and our receptionist, who had previously never touched a pc before, has completed several Microsoft courses which has done wonders for her confidence.”

So, whether you win the laptop or not, we would be delighted to offer you and your business free advice on a variety of topics ranging from identifying your training needs to implementing training solutions that are built around your needs.
