Staff at Cumbernauld Theatre have widened their training repertoire thanks to online learning
Karen Allan, administrator at the theatre, explains: “Like many SMEs, we have a limited training budget, which is why online learning worked so well for us.
“The flexibility of online learning is ideal for our staff, as many don’t work normal office hours. It’s also ideal for our part-time staff who have other jobs. Our old training scheme meant that many weren’t able to take advantage of any training as it would be held during the day.
“We subscribed to several online courses. Most of the permanent staff requested training in basic office administration courses such as Excel and Outlook 2000.
“The assistant bar manager and I also signed up for Assertive Manager and Effective Leader courses, which have been very helpful in reassuring us that our management skills are up to speed.
“We have 10 full-time and 30 part-time staff, most of whom are performers, so online learning is exactly what we needed.”
